The 2025-2026 season of Wisconsin Youth Hockey is right around the corner and here is some exciting news regarding girls hockey in Northwest Wisconsin!

Girls from Hayward, Spooner, Rice Lake, Barron, Chetek, Cumberland, Siren, Park Falls, Ashland and surrounding areas are coming together to play under the Namekagon Rush!

The Namekagon Rush will host 10U, 12U and 14U All Girls' Teams.

Why the name Namekagon Rush?

• The Namekagon River flows through all of our communities in Northwest Wisconsin and is a way to unite us all.

Why is Hayward administering the Namekagon Rush?

• Hayward has volunteered to be the administrator because Hayward hosts the High School Girls Team that youth girls from the Namekagon Rush will eventually play for. 

Is the Namekagon Rush a coop?

• An official coop through the Wisconsin Ametuer Hockey Association (WAHA) is defined as two or three teams. Therefore, the Namekagon Rush is coop in spirit, not on paper. WAHA states that Girl’s may play with the closest Girl’s team if their association does not offer a Girl’s team.

What are the options for registering to play with the Namekagon Rush?

• Any girl living in this area may register directly with the Namekagon Rush if their home association does not offer a Girls’ Team. Or you may cross roster. Please register with the cross roster option and then the Namekagon Rush Committee will determine eligibility.

What are the volunteer requirements for the Namekagon Rush?

• Parents of players will completely run home tournaments
• Parents of players will assist with locker room monitoring on a rotating basis
• Parents of players will cover concession stand during home games
