Welcome to Hayward Youth Hockey

​​Hayward Youth Hockey and the Namekagon Rush Girls Youth Hockey programs are committed to providing great team athletic experience to our youth through affordability, quality coaching, accessible facilities and training opportunities! The Mission of Hayward Hockey is to foster competitive, hardworking and respectful athletes who are committed to success. 

Hayward Hockey Goals

Hayward Hockey Goals:

  • To grow the sport of Hockey in Hayward (two teams at every level, including full time Girls Namekagon Rush rosters at girls U10, U12 and U14 levels.
  • To make hockey affordable to all families with children seeking to play
  • To provide quality coaching and mentoring at all levels 
  • To provide year round ice and for additional growth and skills development
  • To raise funding to support a new outdoor training facility, open to the public for additional opportunities

Progression through our Hockey Programs

Typical progression through our Hockey Programs is as follows:

Try Hockey for Free - A one day session to gauge interest and to gather additional information. Starting as early as 3 years old and for boys and girls.

Learn to Play Hockey - 4 sessions to give a feel of sticks, pucks and nets. These sessions are held in October. Starting as early as 3 years old and for boys and girls. 

Hockey Development League (sometimes called Mites) - Beginning of hockey practices, games and teams. Starting at age 3 and ending between 8-9 years old. For boys and girls (girls do have opportunities to focus on some all girls games). Older kids may be worked into the Hockey Development League with consultation of the Executive Director - HaywardSCinfo@gmail.com.

Hayward Youth Hockey - beginning at age 9 and progressing through age 14. Kids will progress through Squirt, Peewee and Bantam level before going onto High School Hockey. For boys and girls who wish to play on co-ed teams.

Namekagon Rush All Girls' Hockey Teams - beginning at age 9 and progressing through age 14. Girls will progress through 10U, 12U and 14U levels before going onto High School Hockey. For girls from Hayward, Spooner, Rice Lake, Cumberland, Barron, Chetek, Ashland, Parkfalls, Siren and anywhere in between. Girls under 9 year old may check with their local associations for opportunities for Learn to Skate, Learn to Play Hockey and Mite programs.
